Dartmouth Pupils Get Baking for Charity

Dartmouth has been fundraising for Children in Need today (15th November).

The primary school teachers arranged a variety of activities, including a special assembly so all the younger children understood the importance of the day.  Pupils were also encouraged to come in wearing something spotty in exchange for a donation.

Pupils and their families had also baked up a storm at home and put on a cake sale which raised a brilliant £161.34.

Thanks to donations, Children in Need are currently funding nearly 1,500 charities and children’s projects to the value of £91.5 million. In 2022/2023 they supported well over 400,000 children.

Jen Tierney, Headteacher at Dartmouth Academy, said:

“I am so proud of all the pupils who helped to fundraise for Children in Need today.  I also want to give my thanks to all the families who baked at home to make our cake sale such a success.”

Matthew Shanks, CEO at Education South West said:

“Children in Need is such an important annual charity fundraiser and a great way to introduce children to thinking about how to help those less fortunate than themselves.  Many congratulations to the staff and pupils at Dartmouth Academy for raising an amazing amount for such a worthy cause.”
